How will fulfillment for Follow Me Down impact Starkhollow Hall?
Simply put; it shouldn’t. The longer answer is that I (Joie) am acting as project lead on Follow Me Down, which means most of my work on that game is already done, aside from wrangling other people. This frees up time to work on Starkhollow Hall, which is a much smaller project. I’ve also set fulfillment for Starkhollow Hall for December 2022, which is an additional three months after Follow Me Down is scheduled to ship. That should be plenty of time to complete and deliver both games.

Is US shipping still free for the "Haunt" perk?
Yes! Everything from the “Haunt” perk will ship in a USPS flat rate box for domestic backers. Unfortunately, I can’t promise free international shipping, but I will do my best to offer you the best rate I can.

What do you mean by "shipping will be charged later?"
Instead of paying international shipping costs up front, postage will be charged via Backerkit shortly before rewards are scheduled to ship. If you are an international backer, you will need to provide Backerkit with credit card information when you fill out your survey, so you can be charged for shipping at a later date. You will have plenty of warning before cards will be charged for postage, and will even have time to update your payment method before shipping.

What is included in the Flowers Withered on the Stem Mystery Box?
The picture is pretty close to what the contents of the Mystery Box actually look like. There may be additional items included, but you should receive everything currently pictured, with some minor variations (as expected with handmade items). Each item is either a clue for the Flowers Withered on the Stem mystery, or a story seed related to the history of Starkhollow Hall.

I’ve always loved the genre and the many sub-genres that developed. I also majored in gothic and Victorian literature while in college. Who said English degrees aren’t useful?

Yes! I’m doing the writing/design, art, layout, marketing and distribution, similar to what I did for Mage to Order last year (MtO had a cover artist and editor, but I did everything else). I’ll be sending Starkhollow Hall to an editor before going to print, but everything else on the project will be done by me.

What about the Mystery Boxes from the "Haunt" perk? Are you doing all of that too?
Yes, I’m handmaking and assembling all of the items for the Mystery Box, which is why there are only ten available for that particular Perk. I have a background in prop-making, and have been sewing for over 30 years, so I’m especially excited to work on the rewards for this Perk!

Are there any stretch goals? I don't see them listed.
There are no stretch goals for Starkhollow Hall. I’ve chosen to do this so I can dedicate my time to fulfilling Perks, and not have to worry about overworking myself. If the campaign funds, I’ll add 10 community copies for every $100 pledged beyond the initial $700 goal.

How many players does Starkhollow Hall require?
The game can be played with just a GM and single player, but there are cooperative play mechanics that you can only use if there are two or more players. I feel like the game plays best with 3-4 players, but should be fine for larger parties.

Is Starkhollow Hall designed for campaigns? For one-shots?
The short answer is both. Starkhollow Hall can be played as a single-session game, or can be serial in nature. You can play it as an episodic mystery that is resolved by the end of the session, introducing a new mystery at the start of the next session, as a stand-alone mystery, or as a continuous campaign focusing on one particular mystery.

Yes! I absolutely intend to release new mysteries after Starkhollow Hall is released. I already have a few ideas sketched out that I’d love to see in print.

I don't know much about the GUMSHOE SRD. Why did you choose to use this particular system?
The GUMSHOE system is explicitly designed to streamline information gathering. The simple explanation is that there’s little to no barrier to obtaining information, as long as the players are actively looking for it. Investigative abilities automatically succeed if the player has any rating in that ability–no die roll necessary. For a game focused on finding clues to solve mysteries, it seemed like a no-brainer that GUMSHOE was the best choice.

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
